Wed, January 26

Spent the entire day reading through 178 resumes to begin to fill my 8 positions I have open for the upcoming year! God definitely has a sense of humor- my last resume I read was from an employee from last year whom I had to fire b/c of many issues, spent a week trying to chase the man down to give him his termination letter, only to find out that he quit before we could get to him. The man applied again for the same job! Couldn't believe it. Oh Liberia!

Our base is overflowing right now with staff and visitors- so much so that 4 of us are sleeping outside in tents because all 10 of the beds in the house are full. At one point today, the UN Pakistani soldiers came to assess our compound (which we rent from the Vice President of Liberia) to make sure it was safe for his arrival this evening. "Excuse me, his what?!?!" When the VP comes we all obviously have to find another place to stay- not an easy feat in a town like Foya...let's just say there is no Super 8! Thankfully, he made other arrangements for accommodations, so there will be no moving tonight!
