HOT HOT HOT!

Those three words fully describe where I am living right now. I don't even know what the temperature has been outside, but with almost 100% humidity and heat, it has been hard to be outside! Although I did spend some time on the beach with Isaac and Felix on Saturday and will be paying for it for a few days I'm afraid. Today in church was almost unbearable... no air movement at all for two hours... it was hot-o!

This is the big week for me, with the first team arriving on Wednesday night. Tomorrow is my first day at the office where I will learn about the ins and outs of how SP does things, and will continue to prepare for supplies I need to buy for the team. Please pray for clarity and wisdom as i continue to plan, and also for safety as the team arrives and as we travel to the African Bible College campus!

"hey, photography is back!"

That was my greeting this morning from a Liberian I had worked with over a year ago. Yes, "photography" is back, but this time with a totally different job!

I arrived safely last night in Monrovia with all of the heat and humidity (and my favorite boys) there to greet me! My flights went well, I was able to sleep quite a bit on the last leg of my trip which was very much needed. Without wasting any time we left this morning for the construction site, a 5-6 hour drive from Monrovia where we met the two couples helping facilitate both the construction and also the administration for the college.

The campus is quite beautiful, this whole area must have been quite the oasis back before the war... somedays I just wish I could be transported back 25 years to see the Liberia of before!

Our day was spent touring the campus and laying out some plans for the first team which arrives next week. My role will be to coordinate and take care of their meals, housing, activities, etc while they are in country. I will be overseeing four Liberian women who will do the cooking and cleaning, and will be making sure all the food and supplies are here and things are kept on schedule. We visited the one grocery store today to find that almost all of our food needs to come from Monrovia, since there is not a lot available here. Which means a lot of planning ahead for meals, etc. Also, to keep these men from eating only rice and sauce for three weeks, I will be training the women on how to cook western dishes.... I know, you are probably laughing as hard as I did when I found out! :) So it will be both a challenge and adventure!

Thanks for your prayers during my journey out here and please continue to pray for me as I find my feet in this new position.
